The brutal 218km Queenstage that is Caldes/Val di Sole-Passo dello Stelvio. Thomas De Gendt takes the win and moves up to fourth in the GC. Joaquim Rodriguez still leads the overall with Ryder Hesjedal 31 seconds behind and Michele Scarponi 1:51 minutes in third. Will Hesjedal become the first Canadian to win the Giro? The final TT is on!
Touted as the toughest stage in this years Giro, the 197km Treviso to Alpe di Pampeago of Stage 19 featured five categorized climbs. Roman Kreuziger takes the stage while Ryder Hesjedal comes in second (now just 17 seconds down from GC leader Joaquim Rodriguez) who came in third. The brutal stage took its toll on the riders as you can see in Michele Scarponi (forth) at the finish. Now the Stelvio awaits ahead of the final ITT in Milan.
Another beautiful day in the Dolomites… And a “WTF’s going on?!” moment from Cav after being beaten in the bunch sprint into second by Andrea Guardini in Stage 18.
